Download Minecraft
You can download Minecraft legally from minecraft.net: the 119.99 PLN purchase covers Java and Bedrock Edition in one bundle. Below you will find all editions of the game (PC, phone, consoles), server software and launchers. Pick the version for you and start playing.
Minecraft 26.3: Wilderness Bound
A Dappled Forest with poplars, abandoned camps, cushions, straw beds, and stairs and slabs made of wool and concrete. The third drop of 2026 has been available since September 15 on Java (26.3) and Bedrock (26.50).
Minecraft: Java Edition
Minecraft: Java Edition is the original version of the game, created by Markus "Notch" Persson and then developed by the Mojang studio (now Mojang Studios, part of Microsoft). It was this edition that started the Minecraft phenomenon, and to this day it remains the most extensive version of the game. Java Edition offers complete freedom to mod, unlimited access to community servers and regular updates that deliver new content, mechanics and fixes.
The game is available on Windows, macOS and Linux. Since 2022, buying Minecraft: Java Edition also includes Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for Windows in the same bundle, and a single Microsoft account is enough. Java Edition stands out for its modding community: thousands of mods (through Forge, Fabric and NeoForge), resource packs, shaders and custom maps are available for free. It is also the only version that fully supports snapshots, the early test versions of upcoming updates.
To play you need a Microsoft account with Minecraft purchased. You download the game through the official Minecraft Launcher, which manages versions and updates automatically. Java Edition lets you install multiple game versions at the same time, which is especially useful for mod creators and players who use different servers.
Minecraft: Bedrock Edition
Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (formerly Windows 10 Edition) is the version of the game written in C++, optimized for performance and cross-platform play. It is the edition installed on most devices in the world: it runs on Windows 10/11, on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles and on mobile devices. Its biggest advantage is crossplay: players from different platforms can join the same servers and play together without any restrictions.
Bedrock Edition has a built-in Minecraft Marketplace, where you can buy skins, texture packs, worlds and mash-ups made by official Mojang partners. This version also has the built-in Realms system, private servers hosted by Mojang that you can launch in a few clicks. Compared with Java Edition, Bedrock is much better optimized and runs smoothly even on weaker hardware.
Since June 2022, when you buy Minecraft through minecraft.net or the Microsoft Store on PC, you get both editions (Java + Bedrock) in one bundle. Bedrock Edition for Windows requires a Microsoft account and installation through the Microsoft Store or the official Minecraft Launcher. This version supports ray tracing on NVIDIA RTX cards, which adds realistic lighting.
Minecraft: Pocket Edition (mobile)
Minecraft for mobile devices (formerly Pocket Edition, now officially just "Minecraft") is the full version of the game for smartphones and tablets running Android and iOS. It is the same Bedrock edition that runs on consoles and Windows, which means full crossplay with the other Bedrock platforms. The game offers all game modes: Survival, Creative, Adventure and Spectator.
The touch controls were designed specifically for mobile screens: a virtual joystick for movement, action buttons and an intuitive crafting interface. You can also connect a Bluetooth controller (Xbox, PlayStation, other compatible gamepads) for more comfortable play. The game supports the Minecraft Marketplace, Realms, add-ons (Behavior Packs and Resource Packs) and the full update content, identical to the other Bedrock platforms.
Minecraft on Android is available in the Google Play Store, and on iOS in the Apple App Store. The price is about 34.99 PLN (a one-time purchase, no subscription). The game takes up about 300–500 MB of disk space (before downloading additional content). Multiplayer requires a Microsoft account and an internet connection. The mobile version is updated regularly, in parallel with the other Bedrock platforms.
Minecraft on consoles
Minecraft is available on all popular game consoles: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The consoles run Bedrock Edition, which means full crossplay between all of these platforms, as well as with mobile devices and Windows.
Console versions offer split-screen for up to 4 local players, an ideal solution for playing with family or friends on the couch. Minecraft on consoles also supports the Marketplace, Realms and add-ons (DLC). On Xbox, Minecraft is often available as part of an Xbox Game Pass subscription, so you can play without an extra purchase. On PlayStation you buy the game through the PlayStation Store, and on Switch through the Nintendo eShop.
On next-generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) Minecraft uses more of the available processing power, offering a longer render distance and a more stable 60 FPS. On the Nintendo Switch the game runs both docked and handheld, although at a lower resolution (720p handheld, 1080p on TV). All console versions require a Microsoft account for online multiplayer.
All platforms
Mobile: the phone version (formerly Pocket Edition) is the same Bedrock edition, with full crossplay with consoles and Windows and a one-time purchase with no subscription. Consoles: on Xbox, Minecraft is often available as part of an Xbox Game Pass subscription; on PlayStation you can buy it in the PlayStation Store, and on Switch in the Nintendo eShop (~129 PLN). All console versions require a Microsoft account to play online.
Server software
Hosting your own Minecraft server is a great way to play with friends without limits. There are several different server platforms, from the official JAR file from Mojang to advanced community solutions with plugin support and optimizations. All of them are free and open source (except the official Mojang server, which is free but closed source).
Official server (Vanilla)
The official server.jar file from Mojang. Pure Minecraft with no modifications, ideal for small groups of friends who want to play on a "clean" version of the game. Easy setup: all you need is Java and one file to run. No plugin support.
Paper
The most popular server software for Minecraft. Paper is a Spigot fork with numerous performance optimizations, bug fixes and an extended API for plugin developers. It supports Bukkit and Spigot plugins and offers much better performance than the official server.
Download Paper →Spigot
Spigot is a CraftBukkit fork: a server with plugin support and basic optimizations. For years it was the standard in the Minecraft community. Today most players choose Paper (which is a Spigot fork), but Spigot is still under active development. It has to be compiled with BuildTools.
Download Spigot →Fabric (server)
Fabric is a lightweight mod loader that supports both the client and the server. A Fabric server lets you run server-side mods (for example Lithium for optimization, Carpet for admin tools). It is ideal when you want a modded server with Fabric mods instead of a plugin system.
Download Fabric Server →Velocity (proxy)
Velocity is a modern proxy server from the PaperMC team. It connects multiple Minecraft servers into one network (for example lobby + survival + minigames). It offers much better performance and security than the older BungeeCord. Essential when running large server networks.
Download Velocity →Purpur
Purpur is a Paper fork offering even more configuration options and unique gameplay features. It lets you customize practically every aspect of the game through config files, without installing plugins. Fully compatible with Bukkit/Spigot/Paper plugins.
Download Purpur →Minecraft launchers
A launcher is the program used to start Minecraft. The official Minecraft Launcher is supplied by Mojang Studios. There are also alternative open-source launchers that offer better management of profiles, mods and game instances. Below is an overview of the most popular options.
Minecraft Launcher (official)
The official launcher from Mojang Studios. It supports both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition on Windows. It automatically downloads and updates the game, manages profiles and lets you switch between versions. On Windows you can download it from the Microsoft Store or from minecraft.net, on macOS and Linux from minecraft.net.
Prism Launcher
Prism Launcher is an open-source launcher that continues the PolyMC project (which in turn evolved from MultiMC). It lets you create separate game instances with different versions, mods and settings. It has built-in Modrinth and CurseForge mod browsers, support for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and resource management. Ideal for players who use many modpacks. Requires a legitimate Microsoft account.
MultiMC
MultiMC is a pioneering launcher that introduced the concept of instances: separate game environments with their own mods, versions and settings. Although many players have since moved to Prism Launcher (a fork with more features), MultiMC is still actively developed and valued for its stability and simplicity. Requires a legitimate Microsoft account.
ATLauncher
ATLauncher specializes in modpacks. It has a built-in library of ready-made mod packs that you can install in one click. It also supports creating your own instances with any mods from CurseForge and Modrinth. A good choice for players who want to start quickly on popular modpacks (FTB, Tekkit, etc.). Requires a legitimate account.
TLauncher
Warning: TLauncher is a widely used launcher that lets you play without a legitimate license. However, security researchers have repeatedly reported that TLauncher contains spyware and may collect user data without their knowledge. In 2022 the tlauncher.org organization was linked to suspicious activity. We strongly advise against using TLauncher, both for security reasons and for legal ones (piracy).
Tools and mod loaders
Forge, Fabric, OptiFine, Sodium and other Minecraft modding tools. A complete installation guide with links to the official sites.

Frequently asked questions
Do I get both versions (Java and Bedrock) when I buy Minecraft?
Yes! Since June 2022, buying Minecraft on PC covers both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition in a single purchase. One Microsoft account is enough.
Which version is better, Java or Bedrock?
It depends on your needs. Java Edition offers full mod support, snapshots and more server options. Bedrock Edition has better crossplay (play with consoles and phones), better performance and optional ray tracing. On PC it is worth having both, and you get them in one bundle.
Is Minecraft free?
Minecraft is a paid game (a one-time purchase, no subscription). On PC it costs 119.99 PLN, on mobile about 34.99 PLN. There is a free trial version with limited features. Server software is free.
Which server should I pick to play with friends?
For a small group (2–10 people) we recommend Paper: it is fast, stable and supports thousands of plugins. If you do not need plugins, the official server.jar is enough. For players with Fabric mods, use Fabric Server. Velocity only becomes useful with large server networks.
Can I play on a pirated version?
We advise against it, both for legal reasons (piracy is illegal) and for security (pirated launchers often contain malware). It pays to support the creators and play safely.
Download only from official sources
TLauncher and similar unofficial launchers let you play without a legitimate license, but security researchers have repeatedly reported that TLauncher contains spyware and may collect user data without their knowledge. In 2022 the organization behind the project was linked to suspicious activity. We strongly advise against using such programs, both for security reasons and for legal ones (piracy).
It pays to support the creators and play safely. You can buy the game only on the official minecraft.net site and in the official stores: Microsoft Store, Google Play, App Store, PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop.
