How to use the /give command
Command syntax
The basic syntax is /give <player> <item> [amount]. For Java Edition the generator writes item IDs with the minecraft: prefix, and for Bedrock Edition without it.
Required permissions
The /give command requires operator (op) permissions on a server, or cheats enabled in a singleplayer world.
Player selectors
@p = nearest player, @a = everyone, @s = the executor, @r = random player. You can also type an exact player name.
Frequently asked questions
Can I give more than 64 items at once?
Every item has a maximum stack size: most blocks and materials stack to 64, ender pearls to 16, and weapons and tools to 1. The generator limits the amount to one stack of the chosen item, but you can run the command as many times as you need.
What is the difference between Java and Bedrock?
The generator writes Java Edition item IDs with the minecraft: prefix (for example minecraft:diamond) and Bedrock Edition IDs as the bare name (diamond). It switches the format automatically to match the edition you pick.
Does /give work in survival mode?
Yes, but only if you have operator (op) permissions. On a server an admin has to grant them to you with the command /op <name>. In singleplayer you need cheats enabled when you create the world.
