Minecraft Dungeons II, also known as Minecraft Dungeons 2, launched on September 29, 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. The game costs from 129 PLN (as of October 7, 2026), and it's available in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one.

Minecraft Dungeons 2: Release Date and Developers

The question of when Minecraft Dungeons 2 comes out is outdated: the release date was September 29, 2026, and the Microsoft Store catalog lists the Deluxe edition as starting at 10:00 Polish time. The game was made by Mojang Studios and Double Eleven, it's published by Xbox Game Studios, and it runs on Unreal Engine 5.

The game was shown off in stages before launch. In June, around Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Xbox Wire shared hands-on impressions of a playable demo (June 10), and on August 26 new features were presented at gamescom 2026. Then on September 26, at Minecraft LIVE, Mojang showed more of Sift, the new dimension announced at gamescom. As we've already reported, Sift is coming to regular Minecraft in 2027.

What Platforms Is Minecraft Dungeons 2 On?

The official FAQ on minecraft.net lists Windows, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox Wire adds cloud gaming and Xbox Play Anywhere support. PS4 and Xbox One aren't on that list, so you won't find versions for those consoles.

How Much Does Minecraft Dungeons 2 Cost, and Is It in Game Pass?

On Steam and in the Microsoft Store, the standard edition costs 129 PLN and the Deluxe Edition costs 219 PLN. If you own the base game, you can buy the upgrade to Deluxe there for 89 PLN. Neither store has lowered the price so far (as of October 7, 2026).

The Deluxe Edition includes the game, 4 extra hero skins (golden versions of Valorie, Kellen, Ren, and Flores), the Soul Cape, the Blub pet, and DLC 1 and 2. The names, contents, and release dates of both DLCs haven't been confirmed yet.

What's New in Minecraft Dungeons 2 Compared to the First Game

The story is brand new. The threat is the Illager High Council, a council of illagers (the Prime Enchanter, the Supreme Evoker, and the Grand Illusioner). The council has gained new power and is carrying out coordinated attacks across the Overworld.

There are no character classes, because you build your hero from gear. A melee weapon, a ranged weapon, 3 artifacts, 4 armor pieces, and 3 talismans add up to 12 slots instead of the 6 from the first game. Talismans are a new gear category with passive bonuses. Your hero can also jump, and ammo for ranged weapons is unlimited and replenishes on its own.

Is it an open world? Xbox Wire describes a single connected map with no loading screens, with the regions Howling Woods, Frozen Highlands, and Rainy Plains, and the Deep Dark also shows up in the game. Your home base is the town of Brave Haven, home to a Blacksmith and an Enchantsmith. The sequel also introduces Sift, which according to Xbox Wire is Minecraft's first new dimension in over 14 years.

Multiplayer: Up to 4-Player Co-op and Crossplay

You can play solo or in a team of up to 4. Local couch co-op works on every platform, and such a team can move into an online session and take in remote players. Where the platform allows it, you can log into your own account on a friend's device and play your own hero.

According to the developers, crossplay is supposed to work from the first launch, with no extra setup. Hero data is stored on servers, so once you link your accounts on each platform to a single Microsoft account, you play the same character on different devices. Online and offline modes are separate, though, and online play on consoles requires a platform subscription, which is bought separately.

Polish Language Support in Minecraft Dungeons 2

On Steam, the game has a Polish interface and subtitles, but no Polish voice acting. Full audio was given to 9 of the 17 supported languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Swedish, and Traditional Chinese.

On the Switch consoles, the situation is less clear. In the metadata of Nintendo's European store, Polish appears for the Switch 2 version but is missing for the original Switch version. Until the game's eShop page clarifies this, treat Polish on the original Switch as unconfirmed.
