Q: What does ranking look like in Bedwars?

On Hypixel the ranking is 'Stars': the number of stars next to your name grows as you earn Bedwars experience. Star 100 is an average player, Star 500+ is a veteran, Star 1000+ is the top elite. Some servers use ELO systems similar to Duels: you win a match, you gain points; you lose, you lose points.

The most important thing is to rebind the Drop key (Q by default) to a key that is harder to press by accident (for example F, or disable it entirely), so you do not throw your ender pearls mid-fight. Set Sprint to Toggle, turn off Auto-Jump and set the FOV to 90-100. Set the mouse sensitivity so that a full 360° turn takes about 25 cm of movement: that is the standard for block clutching and eagle bridging.

What Bedwars is

Bedwars is a team PvP minigame. A match is played on a map with 4 or 8 islands, one for each team (1-4 players). Each team starts with its own bed on a home island.

The rules are simple: as long as your bed exists, you respawn after dying. Once an opponent destroys your bed, your next death means permanent elimination from the round. The last team with living players wins the match.

You destroy a bed by reaching the enemy island and breaking it. The vanilla Minecraft mechanic (a bed exploding in the Nether) does not apply: Bedwars takes place in a regular Overworld, and beds are broken physically. A detailed description of how beds work is in the Bedwars wiki.

How to play Bedwars: resources and the shop

On your island there is a resource generator (forge) that produces three things: iron (fast, 1/s), gold (slower, 1/4s) and, once upgraded, emeralds. In the middle of the map there are extra diamond and emerald generators: more valuable resources that are worth fighting for.

Two NPCs stand near your spawn:

Item Shop: you buy defensive blocks (wool, wood, obsidian), weapons and tools (swords, pickaxe, bow), armor, food and special items (ender pearls, TNT, traps, water/lava buckets).
Team Upgrades: upgrades for the whole team: a faster forge, attacks that deal more damage, armor that protects better, traps for enemies.

A typical match is divided into phases:

Early game (0-2 min): you mine resources on your island, buy wool and an iron pickaxe. Do not leave your base, and secure the bed with 2 layers of wool.
Mid game (2-6 min): you head for diamonds at the middle generator, fight for control of the diamond gens and buy team upgrades (Sharpness I, Haste I).
Late game (6+ min): you have diamond armor, an iron or diamond pickaxe, ender pearls and TNT. Time to rush the enemy islands and destroy beds.

Bedwars servers: Hypixel, CubeCraft, Polish alternatives

You can play Bedwars on dozens of servers, but four platforms dominate the scene:

Hypixel (mc.hypixel.net): the biggest in the world

Hypixel has the most developed Bedwars shop and maps. 80,000+ players at once at peak hours, 100+ maps, a Stars system with prestige levels. It requires a paid Minecraft Java account. Full connection instructions and requirements are on the Hypixel IP page.

CubeCraft (play.cubecraft.net)

The second-largest English-language server with Bedwars. It has its own maps, a slower pace and a more casual community. CubeCraft supports both Java and Bedrock Edition, which is rare. A good option if you play on a phone or console.

GommeHD (gommehd.net)

A German server with a big European Bedwars community. For players in Europe the ping is low (25-40 ms from Poland), much better than on Hypixel. The interface is in English and German.

Polish Bedwars servers

In Poland, Bedwars runs mostly on minigame networks: look in our database of Polish servers and use the "Bedwars" or "Minigames" filter. Best strategies: rush, defense, bridge, forge

Bedwars does not forgive picking a strategy at random: most matches are won by the team that sticks to one plan. Here are four classic styles:

Rush: a fast attack in the first 90 seconds

You buy a wooden pickaxe, 16 wool and a stone sword. You run straight to the neighboring island before the opponent can secure their bed. It is high risk, but if you destroy the bed within 90 seconds, you knock the team out of the round before armor even shows up. It takes good bridging and a cool head.

Defense: a fortress at your base

The opposite of a rush. You buy ender pearls, obsidian and traps and surround the bed with 3 layers: wool → wood → obsidian. Opponents need a diamond pickaxe to break through obsidian, which buys you 2-3 minutes of advantage. Defense wins long matches but loses to well-coordinated rushers.

Bridge: control of the middle

You build a wool road from your island to the diamond/emerald gens. Fast bridging (block clutch, MLG) is a key skill: placing a bridge under yourself while falling. Controlling the middle means controlling the emeralds, and whoever has the emeralds has the team upgrades.

Forge: economy for a long match

You buy only the Iron Forge → Golden Forge → Emerald Forge → Molten Forge upgrades. Your island produces so many resources that you do not have to fight over the gens. The strategy works on 8-team maps, where matches often run 10+ minutes.

Best kits and classes

Hypixel uses a "Prestige" and "Stars" system instead of classic kits. On other servers (mainly Polish servers and CubeCraft) you still pick a class before the match. Below are the 5 most common and strongest:

Builder: starts with wool +32 blocks. Best for rushing and fast bridging. A kit for beginners.
Miner: an upgraded pickaxe from the start, faster block breaking. Excellent for defensive obsidian and for quickly destroying bridges.
Warrior: a stone sword and leather armor already at spawn. Strongest in the early game, but fades by mid-match.
Scout: higher running and jumping speed. Best for rushing distant islands and for escaping after your bed is destroyed.
Engineer: special TNT blocks and rockets. Great for breaking obsidian in defensive fortresses.

How do I buy ranks in Bedwars?

Ranks are bought in a server's official store. On Hypixel that is store.hypixel.net, and on other servers usually their own websites. You pay by card, PayPal or Paysafecard. Ranks are cosmetic and never give an advantage in gameplay. If someone privately offers ranks "with a Bedwars booster" in chat, it is a scam.

What is a "bed defense" and how do I build one?

A bed defense is a shield around the bed made of several layers of different blocks. The standard one: wool (inner layer, fastest to place) → wood/end stone (resistant to TNT) → obsidian (needs a diamond pickaxe). Is Bedwars a good way to learn PvP?
