G2 Esports has launched a modded Minecraft: Java Edition server where fans can follow League of Legends World Championship 2026 broadcasts inside a virtual replica of the organization's headquarters in Berlin. The project, called "G2 Minecraft Office," went live on October 23, 2026, a few hours before G2's first match at the tournament, and runs alongside the standard Twitch broadcast.
How G2's virtual office works
The server recreates the real interiors of G2 Esports' headquarters: lounges, office space and a dedicated viewing room where the G2ARMY community can gather for the duration of Worlds. Matches are shown live in the game, so players don't have to switch between Minecraft and a streaming site to follow the Swiss Stage and the later phases of the tournament.
The server is free to use, with two requirements: you need Minecraft: Java Edition and you have to install the mods the project requires, with instructions published by G2 on the project's dedicated page. Notably, the server shows every Worlds 2026 match, not just the ones G2 plays in, so fans of other organizations can also drop in to watch the tournament in an unusual, community-style setting.
Seventeen skins for the tournament launch
For the launch, G2 prepared a collection of 17 custom character skins: eight variants for the Steve model and nine for the Alex model. The skins draw on the organization's colors and symbolism, and they're available to everyone who joins the server, with no extra fees or loot boxes.
- 8 skins based on the Steve model
- 9 skins based on the Alex model
- Free access, you just need the required mod set
- Broadcast of all Worlds 2026 matches, not just G2's
The first match and G2's season in the background
The project launched symbolically on the day of G2's first match at Worlds 2026: October 23, at 2:00 PM Pacific (5:00 PM Eastern), against Dplus KIA in the first round of the Swiss Stage. The same day, the organization also held a traditional in-person watch party at its Berlin headquarters, making Minecraft a third, digital way to watch the match alongside Twitch and the live event.
G2 arrived at Worlds 2026 as Europe's top seed after sweeping Movistar KOI 3-0 in the LEC Summer Split final. For the European giant, it's another step in a season in which it has already won the 20th regional title in its history and its third trophy of 2026 alone.
Minecraft as a platform for esports
Using Minecraft as a space for watching sports and entertainment events together isn't new worldwide, but it's rare for an organization of G2 Esports' size to do it, and rarer still in such an elaborate form, with its own modded map and an in-game broadcast system. For Polish fans of both League of Legends and Minecraft, it's a chance to bring two separate but heavily overlapping player communities together with a single click.
Initiatives like this also show how flexible the modding scene for Java Edition remains, since it lets people build a fully functional broadcast studio inside a game engine from 2009. For server creators in Poland, it's inspiration that a heavily modified world of your own can be more than just a place to build: it can be a platform for community events around completely different forms of entertainment, like esports in this case.
Worlds 2026 continues through the knockout stage over the coming weeks, and the G2 Minecraft Office server is meant to stay active until the end of the tournament, covering both the Swiss Stage and the later playoff rounds. Anyone interested in joining will find full mod setup instructions on the project's page, and G2's upcoming matches can also be followed live in the organization's virtual office in the world of Minecraft.
