A creator going by rehan-remade used Claude Code running on Opus 5.5 to build a mod that combines Minecraft and GTA V in one shared world. Steve runs around Los Santos with a diamond sword and TNT blocks, and in a clip posted on October 7, 2026, he stops Rockstar's famous train, which has been considered indestructible since the game launched in 2013, as reported by GAMINGbible.
How running two games at once works
Technically, the project is called universal-modder, and it runs Minecraft and GTA V simultaneously on one PC. As blinkz.ai describes it, on every frame GTA V sends Minecraft the exact position of its camera, and Minecraft renders the same view with the sky, fog and clouds turned off. The program compares the pixels from both images to work out which element, a block or a GTA character, is closer to the camera, and that is how it layers one world over the other.
According to the mod's description on GTA5-Mods.com, blocks placed in Minecraft become invisible objects in GTA, so characters and cars stop at such a wall as if it were a real obstacle. TNT and creeper explosions work in both games at once, arrows from a bow turn into projectiles from GTA weapons, and an elytra lets you fly with the camera of Rockstar's game staying in sync. Survival mode carries damage across the two worlds, and stepping through a lit Nether portal transforms the surrounding terrain.
Two days of work with one person steering
The project's GitHub documentation indicates the whole thing was built in about two days of sessions with Claude Code, with a single person overseeing the process. The key commit, labeled 15d6f9d and dated September 30, 2026, includes the line "Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5" in its description. The universal-modder repository is released under the MIT license, which means other creators can use it as a base to try linking other single-player games too.
Steve stops the indestructible train
The most talked-about moment of the whole thing was a clip from creator GameJoker_, in which Steve places a bedrock block on the tracks, a material that normally can't be destroyed except in Creative mode or through a script. The GTA V train runs into the obstacle and stops dead, something players trying with tanks, military vehicles or trucks have failed to pull off for years. GAMINGbible called it a feat that "GTA V players have been trying to achieve for years."
Chaos in Los Santos and community reactions
In another clip, covered by GAMINGbible on October 11, 2026, Minecraft's blocky world lets you summon creepers and the Ender Dragon into Los Santos, and the player uses the same inventory interface as in the original game to swing a diamond sword at cars or blow up streets with TNT blocks. The author of the article judged the result a "mess," but also "fairly harmless" and made mainly "for internet fame."
At the same time, the outlet points out that this kind of project has wider significance for the future of modding: AI can analyze the code of both games on its own, find compatible elements and assemble them into a working whole without step-by-step manual programming. Similar experiments, such as Minecraft mixed with Elden Ring or explosion effects brought to Red Dead Redemption 2, have been popping up more often in recent weeks, according to vgtimes.com.
What's next for the project
The mod's author has made the full workflow public, so anyone with access to Claude Code and legally purchased copies of both games can try building similar combinations. It's worth remembering that the full version of Minecraft requires buying the game, for example as Java Edition (/pobierz/java). For those interested in modding Minecraft the more traditional way, an overview of available mods can be found in the site's /mody section. For now, the creator hasn't announced which games they want to link next, but the project's open license suggests more experiments like this could appear quickly.
