Top 15 Minecraft shaders: 2026 ranking

We tested 15 shaders on two setups (RTX 3060 and GTX 1650) in five biomes. Realistic lighting, volumetric clouds, water reflections: every shader is rated for quality and performance.

Realistic: the best graphics

1. Complementary Reimagined (9.7/10)

Style: realistic with a vanilla feel | FPS RTX 3060: ~90 | FPS GTX 1650: ~35

The perfect balance between realism and Minecraft's vanilla style. Volumetric clouds, warm lighting, beautiful sunrise and sunset skies, all without overdoing it. It doesn't try to turn Minecraft into Crysis, but it makes the game look magical. The shader most often recommended by the community, and our number 1.

Pros: the best balance of quality and style, great optimization. Cons: no path tracing.

2. Photon (9.4/10)

FPS RTX 3060: ~40

Some of the best lighting quality you can get in Minecraft. It needs a strong graphics card, but the result is impressive.

Pros: the best lighting quality in MC. Cons: very demanding.

3. SEUS Renewed (9.3/10)

Style: realistic | FPS RTX 3060: ~70 | FPS GTX 1650: ~25

Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders, a legend among Minecraft shaders. Realistic global illumination, water reflections, atmospheric effects. Demanding, but spectacular. The Renewed version is much better optimized than the classic one.

Pros: an iconic look, good reflections. Cons: slower updates, and the author is working on SEUS PTGI.

4. Kappa Shaders (9.2/10)

Style: path tracing | FPS RTX 3060: ~50 | FPS GTX 1650: ~15

The successor to the SEUS PTGI concept: advanced path tracing with better optimization. Realistic reflections in water, glass and metals. Colored lighting (lava gives orange light, redstone gives red) creates atmospheric cave interiors.

Pros: path tracing with better optimization. Cons: still very demanding.

5. Rethinking Voxels (9.1/10)

Style: voxel global illumination | FPS RTX 3060: ~60 | FPS GTX 1650: ~20

Voxel global illumination: colored light bounces off blocks realistically. A torch gives a warm glow, and lava lights the walls orange. Unique and beautiful effects in caves and buildings are its strong point.

Pros: the best colored lighting, unique effects. Cons: average performance on older hardware.

6. BSL Shaders (9.0/10)

Style: warm realistic | FPS RTX 3060: ~100 | FPS GTX 1650: ~40

A classic among shaders: rich colors, soft shadows, excellent performance. Water looks natural, the sky has beautiful gradients, and the lighting is warm without overdoing it. Ideal for mid-range computers: it gives 80% of the effect of the top shaders at 50% of the performance cost.

Pros: great performance, stable. Cons: no path tracing or GI.

7. Bliss Shaders (8.9/10)

Style: fairytale/Ghibli | FPS RTX 3060: ~80 | FPS GTX 1650: ~30

Stylized shaders with a warm, pastel palette inspired by the Studio Ghibli look. Soft shadows, romantic lighting, fairytale skies. They don't try to be realistic; they create a magical mood of their own. Ideal for fantasy builds and screenshots.

Pros: a unique style, beautiful screenshots. Cons: not for fans of realism.

Light and ultra-light

11. MakeUp Ultra Fast (8.2/10)

Style: light realistic | FPS RTX 3060: ~130 | FPS GTX 1650: ~55

One of the lightest shaders with real shadows and better water. It runs even on Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics. Surprisingly good looking for its performance: soft shadows, a better sky and decent water at no FPS cost.

Pros: runs on almost any PC. Cons: simple effects compared with the top shaders.

12. Super Duper Vanilla (8.1/10)

Style: subtle vanilla | FPS RTX 3060: ~140 | FPS GTX 1650: ~60

Subtle improvements to vanilla graphics: better shadows, softer lighting, gentler color transitions. It doesn't change the style of the game, it just polishes it. Ideal for players who don't want drastic changes but appreciate better shadows and water.

Pros: vanilla+ without a revolution, ultra-light. Cons: barely visible change compared with vanilla.

13. Shrimple (8.0/10)

Style: lightweight | FPS RTX 3060: ~100 | FPS GTX 1650: ~40

Colored lighting (lava, torches, redstone) with decent performance. The compromises show on a closer look, but the overall effect is impressive.

Pros: colored lighting at a low cost. Cons: lower quality than Photon/Kappa.

14. Tea Shaders (7.8/10)

Style: ultra-light | FPS RTX 3060: ~150 | FPS GTX 1650: ~70

An ultra-light shader for the weakest computers. Basic shadows, better water and a gentle bloom, with practically no FPS drop. If you have a laptop with Intel HD Graphics and want at least shadows, Tea Shaders is your best bet.

Pros: runs on anything, minimal FPS drop. Cons: very basic effects.
