Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have confirmed construction of the world's first Minecraft-inspired hotel. The property, called the Minecraft World Hotel, will be built at the Chessington World of Adventures Resort near London and will open in 2027 as part of a larger 50-million-pound investment known as Minecraft World.
69 rooms and a mineshaft for hallways
The hotel will have four floors and a total of 69 rooms: 20 premium and 49 standard. Instead of traditional room numbers, guests will search for their "respawn point" by wandering through corridors designed like mine tunnels, where they can "find" diamonds along the way. The elevators are meant to look like Nether portals, and the room decor draws on biomes, mobs and textures familiar from the game.
- 20 premium and 49 standard rooms across four floors
- Elevators inspired by Nether portals
- Corridors resembling mine tunnels with "diamonds" to find
- A themed restaurant inspired by ocean biomes
- A bar serving "potion-style" drinks inspired by the Woodland Mansion
As Daisy Mercedes, Creative Producer on Merlin's side, described it, guests "will be able to sleep inside this world, so their respawn point will be exactly where they want it to be." Meanwhile, Filip Keatley Thoms, Creative Lead at Mojang Studios, stressed that the team's goal is to create an experience that "feels authentically Minecraft."
Escape the Nether: the first Minecraft roller coaster
The centerpiece of the whole Minecraft World complex will be the "Escape the Nether" roller coaster, described as the first-ever ride based on the game. Guests will board minecarts alongside Steve and Alex, travel through dark, mine-like tunnels, then burst through a Nether portal onto an outdoor section of track inspired by the Overworld, passing hostile mobs along the way.
The entire Minecraft World site is set to combine attractions, dining and themed shops into one enclosed area for fans of the game. The Chessington location is convenient for visitors from London: the park is just a 35-minute direct train ride from London Waterloo station.
Why this matters for fans in Poland
The project shows just how far the Minecraft brand has grown beyond the game itself, from a TV series and films to real-world tourist attractions. For Polish players planning a trip to the United Kingdom, Minecraft World could become a new destination alongside London's classic attractions. The project also fits into a broader trend of commercial collaborations for the brand, alongside previous joint campaigns with restaurant chains and gadget makers.
It's worth noting that the hotel and the roller coaster were first announced during the September edition of Minecraft Live 2026, and Merlin Entertainments' latest materials now confirm specific room counts and decor details. The interior style, combining redstone, chests, and creeper and TNT motifs, is meant to capture the game's aesthetic without straying from its signature blocky look.
What's next
Room reservations at the Minecraft World Hotel are not yet available. Merlin Entertainments has said that pricing details and the reservation opening date will be announced in the coming months, ahead of the whole complex's planned debut in 2027.
