Minecraft Preview 26.70.23 reached Bedrock Edition players on November 1, 2026 on iOS and iPadOS, and on November 3 on Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, ChromeOS, and Android. This is the fourth test version in the 26.70 series and the last one to add new gameplay features before the stable release of the fourth drop of the year, the equivalent of Java Snapshot 26.4-7, where Mojang stated plainly: "Minecraft 26.4 Snapshot 7 is here with a brand new music disc and a flurry of new blocks".
Calcite arrives on Bedrock
The biggest addition is the full set of Calcite blocks. Players get Slab, Stairs, and Wall variants, which, according to the patch notes, can also be crafted at the Stonecutter. There's also Polished Calcite, crafted from four base blocks in a 2x2 pattern, along with Polished Calcite Bricks and their own Slab, Stairs, and Wall variants.
All three variants, Calcite, Polished Calcite, and Polished Calcite Bricks, join the same decorative group as the existing slow-bouncing sculk-like blocks, making it easier for builders to combine them with existing styles. It's another step in expanding the building block palette, similar to what Mojang did previously with Tuff or Resin.
New "Flurry" disc and the rest of the additions
The game is getting a new music disc, "Flurry," by Hyper Potions. It can be found in Chests in igloo basements, and when played in a Jukebox gives a comparator signal strength of 7. The same update also adds a carved Soulshale block depicting the singer, hidden in Chests in ancient cities, the same secret element we already wrote about when Snapshot 7 landed on Java Edition.
The main menu panorama has also been changed, which for many players will be the first visible sign that they're testing the version previewing the upcoming drop. The list of smaller fixes includes the fact that being on fire now counters the freezing effect, similar to leather armor, and Skeletons and Zombies won't turn into Strays or Drowned (frostbite variants) if the player is wearing at least one piece of leather armor.
One key press instead of digging through the inventory
Bedrock is getting a new, dedicated shortcut for swapping the item in the off hand, by default the F key on keyboard, replacing the crafting shortcut previously assigned there on controllers, plus a separate touch button on mobile devices. It's a small but noticeable change for survival players who often juggle an axe, a torch, and blocks.
The /chat command has also been added to the game, and the Ore UI interface got load time optimizations on Nintendo Switch along with emoji support. The patch notes list a total of 29 bug fixes, including a fix for Hopper item collection speed with partial stacks, incorrect text when mining Tuff, inconsistent loot generation in Chests, and softlocks in the Ore UI main menu.
Technical changes for add-on creators
For mod and add-on creators, the more significant changes are in the Script API. Stable version 2.12.0 of the @minecraft/server module now includes BlockComponentNamedTickEvent as well as the methods ScriptBlock.scheduleNamedTick, hasScheduledNamedTick, removeScheduledNamedTicks, getScheduledNamedTickCount, and getAllScheduledNamedTicks. The minecraft:vibration_properties block component and the minecraft:container field, which lets creators build their own container blocks without enabling experiments, have also left experimental status.
New entity components, minecraft:entity_rotation_always_follows_head and minecraft:spherical_look_control, give creators finer control over mob head-tracking animation. It's another sign that Mojang keeps opening up more mechanics through the Script API instead of keeping them exclusive to vanilla releases.
What's next for Drop 4
According to the patch notes, 26.70.23 is the last batch of new gameplay features before the stable release. Future test versions are expected to focus mainly on bug fixes rather than new content, so pretty much everything coming in the final Drop 4 is already known. Players using Realms in beta or preview will also notice a small change: if they only have one Realms world to choose from, the game now automatically selects it without requiring an extra click.
You can download the test version from the Bedrock Edition download page, and a full overview of earlier releases in this cycle can be found in our Minecraft versions roundup. Those who prefer the stable version can for now use the previously released update 26.3 while waiting for Drop 4 to launch.
