Minecraft Preview 26.70.22 landed in the hands of Bedrock Edition testers on October 28, 2026, bringing two flagship additions of the fourth drop of 2026 to Xbox, PlayStation, Windows, iOS, and the Android beta: Snow Bricks and a frosty variant of the Sulfur Cube that turns water into frosted ice. The changelog, published on feedback.minecraft.net and on minecraft.net, also includes several dozen bug fixes, mob behavior changes, and technical updates for add-on creators.

Snow Bricks arrive on Bedrock Edition

Snow Bricks are a brand new, fully snow-based building block set: regular bricks, brick-style packed snow slabs, stairs, and walls. It's a purely decorative block from the same family as the existing brick sets, with one key difference: it doesn't melt, so you can safely build with it in warmer biomes. The best tool to mine it is a shovel; other tools yield no drops at all.

The set has made its way to Bedrock Edition in exactly the same form it's been tested in Java Edition snapshots for several weeks now. The fourth drop of 2026, unofficially called the Winter Drop, is also bringing Ice Caves with icicles, ice crystals, and fragile ice, along with Frostbites and the Freezing effect. You can find the full list of Bedrock Edition test builds in the versions tab on our site.

Frosty Sulfur Cube turns water into frosted ice

The Sulfur Cube, a moving block known from earlier drops, has gotten a new archetype: Cold. Players get it by equipping the cube with a block of blue ice. This version of the Sulfur Cube behaves like its fast-sliding counterpart, but with one extra property: as it moves over water source blocks, it turns them into frosted ice, similar to how the Frost Walker enchantment works on boots.

The preview also fixes a handful of small issues related to the Packed Ice Bricks set, the brick variant of packed ice. Blocks from that family have been moved to the correct spot in the creative inventory, next to their Sulfur counterparts, now make Note Block-style chime sounds, and the slabs and stairs now correctly submerge in lava and water. Players standing on a packed ice block will also hear new ambient sounds. On top of that, Wandering Traders now sell one ice crystal for two emeralds.

Mob behavior and Ice Caves fixes

The developers fixed the transformation chain for mobs exposed to powder snow. Huskes and Drowneds now first turn into zombies before becoming Frostbites, instead of skipping that intermediate stage (bugs MCPE-243516 and MCPE-243517). At the same time, zombies, huskes, and drowneds no longer take freezing damage while standing in powder snow (MCPE-243321).

In Ice Caves, villagers and zombie villagers now spawn in their snowy variants, and the biome itself got a new "frozen" tag, useful for add-on creators working with biomes. Fixes were also made to frog swimming in deep water and to adult turtles, which now successfully climb onto shore instead of endlessly circling in the water.

UI, Realms, and Marketplace fixes

The changelog also includes a series of quality-of-life fixes unrelated to the winter theme. Players can now use number keys to move items from the hotbar into a Furnace, Blast Furnace, or Smoker (MCPE-242444). On Android with a physical keyboard, a bug was fixed where pressing Tab in chat typed the character "Õ" instead of suggesting commands, and Ctrl+Backspace and Ctrl+Delete now properly delete whole words (MCPE-242450).

  • The Marketplace Pass subscription page now shows the number of days remaining on the subscription
  • The gift error window now displays an "Unable to Gift" message when the sender can't send a gift
  • Responsive Marketplace grids are now limited to six columns by default
  • The dedicated server on Linux now supports pack optimization
  • Fixed flickering icons on the achievements screen (MCPE-242510)

How to play the Preview and what's next

Minecraft Preview is available to owners of Xbox, PlayStation, Windows, and iOS devices, while the Android beta requires joining through Google Play following the instructions at aka.ms/JoinMCBeta. Mojang reminds players that these are test builds that may be unstable and don't reflect the quality of the final release. Bugs can be reported at bugs.mojang.com, and feedback on new features at feedback.minecraft.net.

Polish players using Bedrock Edition can find current releases in the download Bedrock Edition section, and more news about the fourth drop of 2026 will keep appearing in the site's news section. Mojang hasn't yet announced a specific release date for the final version of the Fourth Drop 2026, but the pace of Preview releases suggests that testing of the winter features on Bedrock Edition is still ongoing.
