Minecraft Dungeons II is still selling well around the world. The game, released on September 29, 2026, debuted in second place on the UK retail charts in its first week, and in the following weeks it showed up near the top of the rankings in France, Switzerland and Japan. The latest data from week 40 of 2026 shows that interest in the action-RPG sequel set in the Minecraft universe isn't fading at all.

UK debut: second place behind FC 27

In the week ending October 3, 2026, Minecraft Dungeons II debuted in second place on the UK all-platform sales chart, behind only FC 27. According to PunchJump, a full 70% of retail sales came from the Nintendo Switch 2 version, 22% from PlayStation 5, and 8% from Xbox consoles. That big Switch 2 lead is no accident: the game launched on Nintendo's new console at the same time as the other platforms, and Minecraft itself has been one of the most popular titles in the Nintendo ecosystem for years.

VGChartz confirms the result, noting that Minecraft Dungeons II entered the chart straight at number two, right behind that week's leader. The game costs $29.99 and supports up to four players in co-op, both online and on a single screen, which was a strong selling point for many families with Nintendo consoles.

France and Switzerland: another strong week

Two weeks after launch, Minecraft Dungeons II is still debuting on more retail charts. According to VGChartz's French data, in week 40 of 2026 the game entered the French top five straight at number five, as one of two new titles on the chart.

Switzerland tells a similar story: Minecraft Dungeons II debuted at number nine, and interestingly, the base Minecraft game benefited from the launch and climbed four places to third on the Swiss charts, as reported by VGChartz in its article on the Swiss market. It shows that the sequel isn't just selling well on its own, it's also reminding players of the original game and nudging them back to survival and building.

Japan: Famitsu and eShop digital charts

In Japan, Minecraft Dungeons II debuted with 12,093 copies sold on Nintendo Switch 2 in its first week, covering September 28 to October 4, 2026. The figures come from the Famitsu ranking cited by Nintendo Everything, which quoted the official chart entry: "[NS2] Minecraft Dungeons 2 - 12,093 / NEW".

The game is also doing well on Japan's digital eShop charts. The top 20 best-selling eShop titles for September 2026, published by GoNintendo, show Minecraft Dungeons II Deluxe Edition on Switch 2 in ninth place at 7,810 yen, and the standard edition in thirteenth at 4,730 yen. Base Minecraft on the original Switch holds sixth place at 3,960 yen, which suggests the two games are feeding off each other in the Japanese market.

The Illager High Council and the new Sift dimension

The story of Minecraft Dungeons II pits you against the Illager High Council, a trio of illager leaders made up of the Prime Enchanter, the Supreme Evoker and the Grand Illusioner, who together run coordinated attacks on the Overworld. The game is set partly in a new, dark dimension called the Sift, full of dangerous dungeons and unique items.

But that's not the end of the Sift's story. The developers have announced that this dimension is coming to the base version of Minecraft too, in both Java and Bedrock editions, next year. That means Minecraft Dungeons II currently works as a kind of preview of new content for the main game, which may partly explain why the sequel is dragging up sales of the base title in several markets at once.

What this means for Polish players

Minecraft Dungeons II is available on PC (Steam and Xbox on PC), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and both generations of the Nintendo Switch, and it hit Xbox Game Pass on day one. For Switch 2 owners in Poland, it's one of the first major Minecraft releases available on Nintendo's new console, alongside the base game itself, whose full Switch 2 version goes on sale on October 27.

If you'd rather go back to classic survival instead of a dungeon crawler, you can grab the current version of the game from the Bedrock Edition download section and check the history of updates and version numbering in our overview of Minecraft versions. Sales results from several markets at once suggest that Mojang and Double Eleven have hit the sweet spot with console players, especially on the new Nintendo hardware, and the announced arrival of the Sift dimension in the main game could boost interest even more in the coming months.
