So far, Minecraft Halloween 2026 means 5 pumpkin Character Creator items in Marketplace Pass, plus autumn colors from version 26.3 and pumpkin-wearing mobs on October 31 in Java. Mojang hasn't announced a Halloween sale yet (as of October 7, 2026). Verity is a video series (the mods are fan adaptations), and jerry.jar has no file to download.
Halloween 2026 in the game
The October 6 post Marketplace Content: October 2026 lists only 5 Halloween items: Pumpkin Wings, Pumpkin Hat, Pumpkin Boots, Pumpkin Pants and the Pumpkin Knight Outfit from CreatorLabs. They're in Marketplace Pass and Realms Plus, and the post doesn't give prices.
Mojang has previously announced Halloween sales somewhere between October 4 and 21, but that's just a habit. In 2025 the Halloween Costume Sale ran from October 21 to November 1 and cut the prices of 99 items by 33%, and according to its post, the free Jack O' Lantern for the Bedrock Character Creator can be claimed until October 31, 2026. It's not confirmed whether the offer is still running, so check the Dressing Room.
A ready-made pack of scares is the Creepy Starter Pack, with The One Who Watches and HORROR SURVIVAL add-ons, skins and Minecoins, which costs $9.99 in the US PlayStation Store (as of October 7, 2026).
Autumn colors come from Java Edition 26.3 Wilderness Bound, released September 15, 2026: the Mottled Forest biome and poplars with red, orange and yellow leaves. It's not confirmed whether they came to Bedrock.
According to minecraft.wiki, on October 31 (based on your device's clock), zombies, skeletons and 8 other kinds of mobs can wear a carved pumpkin (22.5%) or a jack o'lantern (2.5%) in Java and Legacy Console Edition, and the Java title screen greets you with "OOoooOOOoooo! Spooky!". Bedrock doesn't have this. You haven't been able to get pumpkins from mobs since snapshot 19w37a.
Pumpkins: carving, jack o'lanterns and golems
According to minecraft.wiki, using shears on a pumpkin gives you a carved pumpkin and seeds: 4 in Java and 1 in Bedrock.
With a carved pumpkin on your head, you won't anger an Enderman by looking at it, and the locator bar won't show you. The downside: a Creaking doesn't freeze when you look at it.
A carved pumpkin with a torch makes a jack o'lantern, as shown by the jack o'lantern recipe. It has light level 15, even underwater, and melts nearby snow and ice.
You place the carved pumpkin or jack o'lantern last: on top of 2 snow blocks (Snow Golem), 4 iron blocks in a T shape (Iron Golem) or 1 copper block (Copper Golem, Java 1.21.9, Bedrock 1.21.111). The details are in the guide on how to build a Snow Golem.
A pumpkin stem needs a light level of at least 9 and takes about 10-30 minutes to mature, and for a steady supply you can build a melon and pumpkin farm. A Farmer villager buys 6 pumpkins for an emerald. With pumpkin, sugar and an egg you can make pumpkin pie.
Skins, costumes and capes
In Bedrock you put together a Halloween look in the Dressing Room from Character Creator items, and in Java you upload your own file following the guide to changing your skin.
The black cape in Minecraft
In October 2026 you can't get any black cape from Mojang. The dark capes on the minecraft.wiki list were only given to select players (as of October 7, 2026):

The Twisted Cape was a pre-order bonus for Minecraft Dungeons II, closed on September 29, 2026 (more on the Dungeons II capes). According to minecraft.wiki, everyone has the Pan Cape: in Bedrock since 2020, in Java since May 8, 2025, when it arrived together with the Founder's Cape.
In Java you equip a cape in the launcher's skin menu or on your minecraft.net profile, and in Bedrock in the Capes tab of the Character Creator. You can't craft it or transfer it to another account. Capes from mods are only visible to players using the same mod. You can redeem codes following the guide to redeeming a cape from a code.
Since capes can't be transferred, a cheap cape from another player means buying someone else's account or giving up your own, and according to minecraft.wiki, accounts with rare capes are a common target for hacking. Never give anyone your login or password. For a costume party, though, you can find a kids' set with a black cape printed with an Enderman.

From The Fog or The Man From The Fog
For new versions of the game, pick From The Fog on CurseForge, the best-maintained of the big horror mods. The Man From The Fog is a different mod that only works on Forge up to 1.20.1.
Verity is a film, not a mod
Verity is a video series by the creator ThatMob (according to KnowYourMeme, the actual title is Something), and the description of the full video says outright that there is no mod. Mods with that name are fan adaptations. According to its project page, Verity JE requires a microphone and a large language model (LLM) that you set up yourself, and speech has only been tested in English.
We recommend Verity JE only for teens, and we advise parents to check which AI model their child has chosen, because the mod talks to the player with a voice. The Verity add-ons for Bedrock require the Beta APIs experiment and cheats, and according to minecraft.wiki such a world permanently loses achievements, so use a separate world.
The Broken Script and jerry.jar
Warning: the project page for The Broken Script (Modrinth only) warns of content involving violence, blood, suicide, self-harm and abuse. It's a metahorror that reaches into files outside the game folder, shows fake pop-up windows and uses strobe effects, so it's not for kids (we recommend 16+) or for anyone sensitive to flashing lights.
The jerry.jar project on CurseForge has no file, so any jerry.jar from another site is a fake and probably malware. Download mods only from the project page on CurseForge or Modrinth, never from copies or direct links to .jar files, and the installation is covered in the mod installation guide.
Scary maps, ARGs and legends
In Java Realms, Mojang released the Phobiaphobia map sets before Halloween (October 25, 2024, including Pumpkin Manor) and Interview with a mob (October 30, 2025). KnowYourMeme describes Verity (released May 30, 2026) as an ARG, or alternate reality game. ARGNet counts among ARGs, among others, Wifies' found footage series with a cipher in the inventory, a Vigenère cipher in the cave walls, a book cipher and references to The King in Yellow.
Jerry is a 4-part horror series from September 2026 about a dog that something is replacing. Sources don't call it an ARG, and KnowYourMeme marks it as sensitive. We advise parents to watch the first episode together with their child.
