10 Best Minecraft Seeds for 2026: Java and Bedrock
I went through hundreds of seeds with one test in mind: the spawn has to be good enough that you won't reset the world after 5 minutes. These 10 passed. Coordinates, biomes and structures are all checked on 1.21.
Best Java Edition seeds (1.21+)
Tested on Java Edition 1.21.4. Coordinates are given as X / Z (I skip Y, since what matters is the position on the map). Every seed was checked by hand; I don't trust generators that hand out coordinates without verifying them.
1. Village island with a Trial Chamber underneath
Seed: -7025701862028498439
Spawn: an island in the ocean with a village (5 houses, a blacksmith with an iron pickaxe)
Key coordinates:
- Trial Chamber: 48 / -112 (under the island, entrance in a cave on the beach)
- Ocean Monument: 280 / -200
- Ruined Portal: -64 / 32 (on the island itself, 4 blocks of obsidian)
- Shipwreck: 160 / 48 (visible from spawn)
Number 1, because a survival island plus a Trial Chamber is the ideal early game. The village gives you starter loot, and the Trial Chamber gives you Breeze Rods and Ominous Bottles in the first hour. The ocean around the island keeps mobs away at night. A perfect base.
2. Cherry Grove cliff spawn with an Ancient City nearby
Seed: 116225, 64, 575 (enter: 116225)
Spawn: a meadow on the edge of the Cherry Grove biome, overlooking a valley
Key coordinates:
- Cherry Grove: spawn (0 / 0, stretches 300 blocks)
- Ancient City: 80 / 128 (under the Cherry Grove, Y=-52)
- Village: -160 / 48
- Stronghold: 400 / -320
The Cherry Grove is the prettiest biome in the game: pink trees, snow on the peaks, sheep and bees. Below it is an Ancient City with its loot, including Swift Sneak III. Looks and loot in one package.
3. Speedrun seed: a Stronghold 200 blocks from spawn
Seed: 6254229970382161261
Spawn: a plain next to a village
Key coordinates:
- Stronghold with the End portal: 188 / -44 (200 blocks from spawn!)
- Village with a Nether portal: 32 / -96
- Surface lava pool: -48 / 16
- Nether Fortress: 64 / -80 (Nether coordinates)
A Stronghold within 200 blocks of spawn is rare: normally it is 1,500-3,000 blocks away. The surface lava pool gives you obsidian for the Nether portal, and there is a Nether Fortress near the portal. This seed is a sub-15-minute run for an experienced player.
4. Mushroom Fields island + 4 biomes within 500 blocks
Seed: -8419231037124394879
Spawn: the edge of the mainland, with a Mushroom Fields island visible from spawn
Key coordinates:
- Mushroom Fields island: 200 / -80 (160 blocks from spawn)
- Desert Pyramid: -128 / 176
- Jungle Temple: 320 / 224
- Mangrove Swamp with a Witch Hut: -64 / -256
A Mushroom Fields island within sight of spawn is like winning the generator lottery. Hostile mobs don't spawn there, so you get a completely safe base without any lighting. Within 500 blocks you also have a desert, a jungle, a mangrove swamp and an ocean. Lots of variety in one place.
5. Double village at spawn + abandoned mineshaft
Seed: 4015311608481839594
Spawn: between two villages (savanna and desert)
Key coordinates:
- Savanna village: -48 / 16 (10 houses, 2 blacksmiths)
- Desert village: 128 / -32 (8 houses, a library)
- Mineshaft: 32 / -64 (Y=12, under spawn)
- Pillager Outpost: -224 / 160
Two villages at spawn mean double the loot and 20+ villagers to trade with from day one. The blacksmith in the savanna village had an iron chestplate in my test. The abandoned mineshaft right under spawn gives you rails and diamonds without digging a shaft.
Best Bedrock Edition seeds (1.21+)
Bedrock seeds were tested on Windows 10/11 and iOS. Bedrock's terrain generator is different from Java's, so the same numbers give different worlds. Coordinates are X / Z.
6. Island spawn with three Shipwrecks
Seed: -1618498722
Spawn: a sandy island in a Warm Ocean
Key coordinates:
- Shipwreck 1: 64 / -32 (on the island, treasure map)
- Shipwreck 2: -96 / 128 (underwater, 3 diamonds)
- Shipwreck 3: 224 / 64 (on the beach, buried treasure in a chest)
- Warm Ocean coral reef: spawn (surrounds the island)
Three wrecks within 300 blocks of spawn mean 3 treasure maps and 6-10 diamonds in total, without any mining. The warm ocean with its coral reef is beautiful. A perfect start on mobile, where mining is a chore.
7. A village in an icy valley (Ice Spikes + village)
Seed: 2009313237
Spawn: the edge of an Ice Spikes biome, with a village on the border of snow and tundra
Key coordinates:
- Village: 96 / -48 (snowy village, 7 houses)
- Ice Spikes: -64 / -128 (ice columns up to 50 blocks tall)
- Igloo with a basement: -192 / 32 (zombie villager + golden apple!)
- Ruined Portal: 224 / -160
Ice Spikes is one of the rarest biomes in the game, and most players have never seen it. The ice columns look otherworldly. The igloo with a basement (where you'll find a zombie villager and a golden apple to cure it) adds a survival element. A seed for players who want something visually different.
8. Every structure within 1,000 blocks
Seed: 1868466882
Spawn: a plain next to a forest
Key coordinates:
- Village: 48 / -64
- Desert Pyramid: 352 / -480
- Jungle Temple: -576 / 384
- Ocean Monument: 640 / 224
- Pillager Outpost: -320 / -128
- Trial Chamber: 128 / 256 (Y=-20)
- Stronghold: -480 / 640
A complete set of structures within 1,000 blocks. Normally you have to travel 3,000+ blocks to find a Desert Pyramid and an Ocean Monument in the same world. This seed puts everything within reach. Ideal for a world where you want to do everything without hours of travel.
9. Spawn in a Mangrove Swamp with a Witch Hut
Seed: -1293246807
Spawn: in the middle of a Mangrove Swamp
Key coordinates:
- Witch Hut: 64 / 32 (70 blocks from spawn)
- Mangrove Swamp: spawn (stretches 800+ blocks)
- Desert village: 384 / -160
- Ruined Portal: -128 / 192
Few people explore the Mangrove Swamp, but it has unique wood (mangrove wood) and mud. A Witch Hut near spawn lets you set up an early witch farm (gunpowder, redstone, glowstone dust). An interesting start for players who are bored with the standard meadow.
10. Mushroom Fields island + Old Growth Spruce Taiga side by side
Seed: 825217104
Spawn: the edge of an Old Growth Spruce Taiga
Key coordinates:
- Mushroom Fields island: 480 / -160 (visible from the shore)
- Old Growth Spruce Taiga: spawn (huge 2x2 spruces up to 30 blocks tall)
- Taiga village: -128 / 96
- Mineshaft under the mushroom island: 512 / -128 (Y=32)
The Old Growth Spruce Taiga is one of the most beautiful biomes: giant spruces, mossy boulders, podzol, foxes. Right next to it is a Mushroom Fields island, which makes a safe base. Mooshrooms give you free mushroom stew (right-click one with a bowl). The best seed for building a forest base with a safe place to retreat to.
How to enter a seed in Minecraft
- Java Edition: Singleplayer → Create New World, then type the number into the Seed for the world generator field and click Create New World.
- Bedrock Edition: Play → Create New → Create New World → the Seed section under the world name. Enter the number.
A seed can be a number (for example -7025701862028498439) or text (for example minecraft). Text is automatically turned into a number by a hashing algorithm. You enter a seed only when creating a new world: you can't change the seed of an existing world.
How to check the seed of your current world:
- Java: type
/seedin chat (needs cheats enabled, or OP on a server) - Bedrock: Settings → Game → the Seed section shows the current seed
What a seed is and how the generator works
A seed is a number that initializes the pseudo-random terrain generator. Minecraft doesn't create random worlds: it uses an algorithm that always generates the same terrain from the same number. That's why you can hand a seed to a friend and both of you get an identical world.
The terrain generator takes the seed and uses it to calculate:
- Heightmap - the shape of the terrain (mountains, valleys, oceans)
- Biomes - where the biomes go (since 1.18 biomes are independent of the heightmap, so you can get steep forests and flat deserts)
- Structures - the positions of villages, temples, Strongholds and so on
- Caves - the system of cheese caves, spaghetti caves and aquifers (since 1.18)
- Ores - where the deposits of diamond, iron, copper and so on are
Big updates (1.18, 1.20, 1.21) change the generator algorithm, so the same seed on different versions gives a different world. That's why our seeds are marked with a version (1.21+). If you play on 1.20, they may not work properly.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the best seed in Minecraft?
There's no single best one: it depends on how you play. For survival: seed #1 (village island + Trial Chamber). For speedruns: seed #3 (Stronghold 200 blocks from spawn). For exploration: seed #4 (Mushroom Fields island + 4 biomes). For building a base: seed #10 (Old Growth Spruce Taiga + mushroom island). Pick the one that fits your goal.
Do Java seeds work on Bedrock?
No. Java Edition and Bedrock Edition have different terrain generators. The same seed number generates a completely different world in each edition. That's why seeds 1-5 in our ranking are Java and 6-10 are Bedrock.
How do I enter a seed in Minecraft?
When you create a new world, enter the number in the Seed field. In Java Edition that's on the Create New World screen; in Bedrock Edition it's the Seed field under the world name. A seed doesn't work on an existing world: you have to create a new one.
Do seeds change after an update?
Yes. Major updates (1.18 Caves & Cliffs, 1.20 Trails & Tales) change terrain generation. The same seed on 1.17 and 1.21 gives a completely different world. Our seeds work on 1.21+.
For more seeds, check our seed database with filters for biomes and structures. To see your seed from above, use Chunkbase Seed Map: enter the seed and version and you get a full map of your world with the structures marked. And if you're just starting out, read our first steps guide.
