Minecraft Characters
A complete guide to 34 characters from the Minecraft universe, from the iconic Steve and Alex through bosses and legends to the heroes of the movie and the spin-offs. Stories, trivia and lore.
What are characters in Minecraft?
Unlike many RPGs, Minecraft has no traditional story characters with elaborate dialogue and backstories. Instead, the Minecraft universe is made up of playable skins (Steve, Alex and 7 new default characters), NPCs (villagers, traders), bosses (the Ender Dragon, the Wither, the Warden) and community legends (Herobrine, Entity 303).
Over time the cast has grown to include the heroes of A Minecraft Movie (2025), starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, plus characters from Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft Legends and the discontinued Minecraft: Story Mode. On this page you will find a complete catalog of characters with descriptions, trivia and lore.
